            Baseball Recap: Lakeview Warriors vs. Nonnewaug Chiefs        
        
		
        
        
            Lakeview extended their losing streak  (dating back to last season) to six  on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They took  a  12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nonnewaug Chiefs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  7-1  back in April.
As for Nonnewaug,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 12-3. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7  runs in those games.
For Nonnewaug's part,  Jayden Cardenas looked comfortable as he  pitched four innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits.
 At the plate, Nonnewaug let  Henry Keil and  R.J. Barksdale run wild. Keil  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with one  stolen base and one  run, while  Barksdale  got on base  in three of his five plate appearances with two  runs and two  RBI.  Scott Viveros was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and one  RBI.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lakeview will  square off against  rival Shepaug Valley  at 3:45  p.m.  on Monday. Meanwhile, Nonnewaug is set to  take on  their familiar foe Housatonic  at 3:45  p.m.  on Wednesday.
