Softball Game Preview: Kern Valley Broncs vs. Desert Scorpions

Kern Valley is 9-1 against Desert since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Broncs will host the Scorpions at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kern Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Kings Christian a 24-0 shutout.

Sam Wyly made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jade Montes, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evagelene Burrows, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Desert, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Trona on Friday as they made off with an 11-1 win.

Kern Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Desert, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
