Football Recap: Oak Ridge Comes Up Short at Home Against Klein + How To Watch

Oak Ridge unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 75-20 defeat at the hands of the Klein Bearkats on Friday. The War Eagles lost against the Bearkats in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 68-43 score last time.

Klein had a senior duo take command as Edward Kelly Jr rushed for 180 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per carry and Grant Stratta threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Kelly Jr showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 66 yards. Torrey Paul was in the mix too, providing Klein with two scores.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Ridge is headed away from home for the first time to take on Stratford at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Klein, they will head out to challenge Dobie at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
