Basketball Recap: Friendship Tech Prep Academy Piles Up the Points Against Virginia Academy

Friendship Tech Prep Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Virginia Academy. The Friendship Tech Prep Academy Titans blew past the Virginia Academy Patriots , posting a 93-57 victory. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

Friendship Tech Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Malik Shackleford out in front who went 10 for 21 on his way to 26 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Shackleford continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Bumpass, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Friendship Tech Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew McLaurin, who posted 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Smith, who put up 16 points.

Friendship Tech Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Virginia Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Friendship Tech Prep Academy will take on Parkside in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Virginia Academy, they will welcome New Hope Academy National at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Virginia Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.2 points per game this season.
