Basketball Recap: Burlington Comes Up Short

Burlington lost against Stratton back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Burlington Cougars fell 68-58 to the Stratton Eagles. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Burlington lost, don't look at Adan Lopez-Mitchell. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-16 to rack up 26 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Lopez-Mitchell a new career-high in points. Rowdy Humrich was another key player, putting up five points and four steals.

Leading Stratton to victory were Ricky Schillig and Von Isenbart. Schillig dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards, while Isenbart dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Judson Isenbart, who posted ten points and five boards.

Burlington's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Stratton, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Burlington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-44 defeat against Arickaree on the 14th. As for Stratton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-41 victory against Merino on the 14th.
