Football Recap: Stephenville Skates Past Wylie with Ease

Stephenville strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past the Wylie Bulldogs to the tune of 52-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 183rd).

Stephenville's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. Cj Spellmeier was especially locked on to Wylie's QB and sacked him twice. Spellmeier is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Briar Floyd got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Stephenville's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Wylie, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Stephenville will look to defend their home field on Friday against La Vega at 7:30 p.m. As for Wylie, they will head out on the road to face off against Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Leopards at the right time seeing as the Leopards are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
