Recap: St. Stephens Indians vs. Hickory Red Tornadoes
Even though the St. Stephens Indians have not done well against the Hickory Red Tornadoes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. St. Stephens secured a 55-50 W over Hickory. That's two games straight that St. Stephens has won by exactly five points.
St. Stephens' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Gibbs, who scored 27 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gibbs has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Molli Harris, who scored 12 points.
St. Stephens has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Hickory, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Stephens will take on East Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in East Lincoln's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests. As for Hickory, they will be playing at home against West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Iredell is coming into the matchup with eight straight defeats on the road, meaning Hickory will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
