Basketball Recap: Jackson Day Mariners vs. Faith Academy Charter Patriots

Jackson Day took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Faith Academy Charter Patriots 82-39. The Mariners pushed the score to 75-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had no chance of recovering from.

Alexander Hector-Davis went supernova, shooting 54% from the field to rack up 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Lewis, who went 6-for-13 en route to 14 points.

Jackson Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Academy Charter only posted three.

When it comes to explaining why Faith Academy Charter lost, don't look at Jelani King. Despite the final result, he shot 86% from the field on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and six blocks. Another player making a difference was Huck Austin, who posted six points.

Jackson Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 86-44 win against Walnut Grove Christian on the 10th. As for Faith Academy Charter, they have also already played their next matchup, an 87-60 loss against North Hills Christian on the 10th.
