Basketball Recap: Pine Forest Takes a Loss

Pine Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 51-37 fall against the Westover Wolverines. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolverines earlier this season, when they won 49-48.

Westover found their leader in sophomore Ja'Naisha Carney, who posted 20 points along with five boards and three steals. Carney is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alena Dilione, who earned eight points and seven rebounds.

Pine Forest's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Westover, they pushed their record up to 16-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Pine Forest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westover, they and Terry Sanford will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in Terry Sanford's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 matchups.
