Baseball Game Preview: Waggener Wildcats vs. Iroquois Raiders

The Waggener Wildcats will face off against the Iroquois Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waggener will be strutting in after a victory while Iroquois will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Waggener got the win against Jeffersontown by a conclusive 16-1. The game marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season.

Logan Janiszewski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Waggener is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Janiszewski was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carsen Ruwe was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Wyatt Greene was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Iroquois was not able to break out of their rough patch last Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Burgin, falling 14-0.

Iroquois' loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Waggener, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.

Waggener took their win against Iroquois in their previous matchup back in March of 2015 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
