Basketball Recap: Nayah Guillory and Paydan Handlin Secure Win for Excel Christian Academy

There's no place like home for Excel Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They strolled past the Mercy Prep Academy Royals with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 56-39. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-27 back in December of 2024.

Leading Excel Christian Academy to victory were Paydan Handlin and Nayah Guillory. Handlin posted 15 points, while Guillory earned 12 points. Another player making a difference was Abigail Guillory, who put up seven points.

Despite the defeat, Mercy Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Myra Nelsen had seven points along with ten boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Nelsen a new career-high in assists (three). Maggie Bruce was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Excel Christian Academy's record is now 9-13. As for Mercy Prep Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Excel Christian Academy nor Mercy Prep Academy have any future games scheduled.
