Peebles and Manchester are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greyhounds at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Peebles is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Peebles came up short against North Adams and fell 7-4.
Brandon Rayburn was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Garrett Shiveley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Manchester got themselves on the board against Whiteoak on Tuesday, but Whiteoak never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Greyhounds have posted since April 9th.
Luke Applegate was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Applegate wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Traevyn Hilderbrand, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Manchester's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Peebles, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Peebles has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
