Baseball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. St. Joseph Academy Flashes

Menendez hasn't had much luck against St. Joseph Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Menendez Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 4:30 p.m.

Menendez came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Rockledge by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Menendez saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tripp Barkoskie, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy entered their tilt with West Nassau on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Warriors.

The team relied heavily on Carlos Willis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Dayton Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

St. Joseph Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Menendez, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Menendez suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to St. Joseph Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Menendez avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
