Volleyball Recap: Calvary Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Calvary Christian came into Tuesday's match having lost 19 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Miami Valley Rams 3-0 on Tuesday. The Spartans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 1, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Calvary Christian took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-5, 25-14.

Ava Cole paced Calvary Christian's offense, picking up 11 kills. Cole got some help from Grace Zell and her 19 assists. Zell also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Claire Heater, each putting up six.

Calvary Christian's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 2-19. As for Miami Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Calvary Christian and Miami Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 781st) will meet Kingdom Christian (ranked 348th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Miami Valley will take on Covington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (807 vs. 153).
