Softball Game Preview: Homestead Highlanders vs. Port Washington Pirates

The Homestead Highlanders will square off against the Port Washington Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Homestead comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Thursday, Homestead came up short against Slinger and fell 6-1.

Homestead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emmy Sehnert, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Port Washington also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Hartford by a score of 15-10. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Orioles: they've now lost six in a row.

Libby Bates was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Shelby Cash was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Port Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Homestead's way against Port Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Homestead made off with a 12-4 victory. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
