Softball Recap: Ore City Takes a Loss

Ore City lost against Harleton last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ore City fell just short of Harleton by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by just one run.

Brooke Byrd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Kayla Peckham also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Ore City and nudges their season record down to 5-13-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Harleton, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ore City will face off against rival Overton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Harleton is set to square off against their familiar foe Union Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
