Basketball Recap: Elsberry Takes a Loss

Elsberry lost against Clopton last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Elsberry Indians fell 67-54 to the Clopton Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Hawks are ranked 44th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clopton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashlyn Noah, who went 8 for 14 en route to 18 points and six boards. The matchup was Noah's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Rileigh Kuntz was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Elsberry's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Clopton, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Elsberry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-23 victory against Wellsville-Middletown on the 4th. As for Clopton, they have also already played their next match, a 66-54 win against Louisiana on the 4th.
