Baseball Game Preview: Portage Indians vs. Chesterton Trojans

Portage is 0-10 against Chesterton since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Indians will take on the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Boone Grove hit Portage with a six-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians fell 7-3 to the Wolves.

Meanwhile, Chesterton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Illiana Christian.

Chesterton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Troy Barrett, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Chesterton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Portage, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9-2.

Portage couldn't quite finish off Chesterton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
