Softball Recap: Grant Park Comes Up Short

Grant Park was the 5-0 winner over Clifton Central when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Dragons fell 5-1 to the Comets on Thursday.

Cheyenne Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Grant Park's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Clifton Central, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-12-1.

Looking ahead, Grant Park will head out to take on Iroquois West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Clifton Central, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Donovan at 4:30 p.m. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.88 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
