Basketball Game Preview: Avery County Vikings vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

The Avery County Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Avery County didn't have too much trouble with Ashe County as they won 58-40. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smoky Mountain). They blew past Swain County 66-39 on Wednesday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Smoky Mountain's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Avery County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Avery County strolled past Smoky Mountain in their previous meeting back in November by a score of 61-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
