The Woodgrove Wolverines will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Tuscarora Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodgrove is coming into the match hot, having won their last 29 games dating back to last season.
On Monday, Woodgrove earned an 11-6 victory over Osbourn Park.
Virginia Dowell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Taylor Harper was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Anderson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Harper wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Woodgrove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Tuscarora ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Briar Woods 3-2.
Briar Woods' batters probably weren't too happy with Peyton Travis, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up five walks).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brileigh Bass, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Woodgrove pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Tuscarora, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Woodgrove came out on top in a nail-biter against Tuscarora in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Does Woodgrove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tuscarora turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
