After losing to Brunswick the last time they met, Upper Arlington decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Golden Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Devils on Saturday, sneaking past 3-1. That's two games straight that the Golden Bears have won by exactly two runs.

Matthias Nemeth was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

In other pitching news, Colin Short looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Nemeth wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Petzinger, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Upper Arlington's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Brunswick, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.

Coming up, Upper Arlington is taking a road trip to challenge Olentangy Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Golden Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Brunswick, they will be playing at home against Strongsville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
