Baseball Game Preview: Flippin Bobcats vs. Cotter Warriors

The Flippin Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Cotter Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Flippin will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Flippin beat Salem 6-2.

Meanwhile, Cotter never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against Decatur as they made off with a 17-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.

Will Morris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Cotter is 3-1 when Morris allows one or fewer hits, but 7-8 otherwise. Morris was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Wesley Perkey was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Adams, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Cotter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Flippin pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cotter, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-9.

Flippin beat Cotter 9-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
