Baseball Recap: Waynesboro Victorious

Waynesboro came out on top against James River on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Little Giants had just enough and edged out the Knights 12-11. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-3 on May 1st.

The team relied heavily on Haden Morris, who went 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Casey Breeden was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Waynesboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Waynesboro and bumps their season record up to 8-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for James River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waynesboro will face off against Buffalo Gap at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for James River, they will challenge Glenvar at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
