Baseball Recap: North Takes a Loss

North extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-12 in the process. They fell 8-5 to the El Segundo Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in March.

Justin Olivar put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Olivar wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sei Nagashima, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

As for El Segundo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On El Segundo's side, Ethan Ayler looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Logan Brooks was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Anders Tipton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

While North had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
