Softball Recap: Highland Park Victorious

Highland Park won the last time they faced Niles West and things went their way on Saturday too. The Giants came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 5-2.

Lily Freedman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Brooklyn Swick was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Marin Killeen, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Highland Park's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Niles West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Highland Park will venture away from home to face off against Maine South at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Niles West, they will host Vernon Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
