Baseball Game Preview: Ceres Bulldogs vs. Grace Davis Spartans

The Ceres Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Grace Davis Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ceres is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

Last Thursday, it was close, but Ceres sidestepped Pacheco for an 8-6 win. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly two runs.

Aiden Maines was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Moreno, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Grace Davis came up short against Beyer on Thursday and fell 6-3.

Logan Ariza was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Ariza wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Ceja Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Ceres pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Grace Davis, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Ceres beat Grace Davis 5-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ceres since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
