MAP: Where every MLB player with 20 or more home runs this season went to high school

By Nick Pecoraro Sep 30, 2025, 11:00am

California and Florida high schools combined to produce 23 sluggers.

The 2025 MLB season was a historic one in terms of home runs.

Seattle Mariners catcher and American League MVP candidate Cal Raleigh led all sluggers with 60 round trippers. Raleigh, who had 13 career homers while at Smoky Mountain (Sylva, N.C.) from 2012–15, became the first catcher and first switch-hitter in MLB history to reach the 60-home run plateau.

Raleigh was one of four sluggers with at least 50 home runs this season, joining Kyle Schwarber, formerly of Middletown (Ohio), Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge of Linden (Calif.). That tied a MLB record for most players with 50 long balls in one year.

Ninety-four players hit at least 20 home runs in 2025 with 33 players from outside of the United States among those. California led the domestic contingent with 13 players while Florida is second on the list with 10.

The only school to have two players on this list is Plant (Tampa, Fla.). Former teammates Pete Alonso and Kyle Tucker combined for 16 homers and 48 RBI for the Panthers in 2013.

Former No. 1 overall draft picks Bryce Harper, Dansby Swanson, Mickey Moniak and Spencer Torkelson made the list. Moniak was the only player in that group to be drafted No. 1 overall out of high school from La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad, Calif.).

Read on for a state-by-state breakdown of MLB players with at least 20 home runs in 2025.
