Volleyball Recap: Merrill Takes a Loss

Merrill and Mosinee squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Merrill had to settle for second. They came up short against the Indians, falling 3-0. The Bluejays haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

While Merrill was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Mosinee's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-14.

Grace Hoff paced Merrill's offense, picking up five kills. Hoff got some help from Kaela Clerveaux and her ten assists.

Taelyn Jirschele was nothing short of spectacular for Mosinee: she had 14 digs and three aces. Jirschele is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Merrill's loss dropped their record down to 16-16. As for Mosinee, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 34-3.

Merrill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mosinee, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Reedsburg on the 25th.
