After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Triton Central, Morristown was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Waldron Mohawks with a sharp 17-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Abby Hawk made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Morristown got a massive performance out of Mykynzy Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Smith has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Avery Everhart, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Morristown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waldron only posted a batting average of .150.
The win got Morristown back to even at 8-8. As for Waldron, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
Morristown will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mohawks: the pair will be back at it again later today.
