Basketball Game Preview: Teutopolis Wooden Shoes vs. Civic Memorial Eagles

Teutopolis is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Civic Memorial is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes will welcome the Civic Memorial Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Teutopolis is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Carlyle just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 44-36 to the Indians/Lady Indians. The game marked the Wooden Shoes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial entered their matchup against Breese Central on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Civic Memorial lost to Breese Central at home by a 59-43 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Cougars are ranked third).

Teutopolis' loss dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Civic Memorial, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-2.

Teutopolis beat Civic Memorial 59-46 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will Teutopolis repeat their success, or does Civic Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
