Baseball Recap: Winslow Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Winslow and Chino Valley meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Bulldogs lost 16-2 to the Cougars. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 11-8 to the Cougars when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Winslow saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Winslow's record is now 3-13-1. As for Chino Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7-1.

Looking ahead, Winslow will square off against Bourgade Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Golden Eagles at the right time seeing as the Golden Eagles are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Chino Valley, they will challenge Blue Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
