Basketball Recap: Southeast Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Southeast and Encampment squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Southeast had to settle for second. They fell 59-50 to the Encampment Tigers. The Cyclones were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 43-39.

Despite the loss, Southeast still got an impressive performance from Ayden Desmond, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Desmond is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Beaux Shimic, who posted ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Southeast and nudges their season record down to 16-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points over those games. As for Encampment, their victory bumped their record up to 16-12.

Southeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Encampment, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-29 loss against Cokeville on the 8th.
