            Basketball Recap: Sutherland Sailors vs. Hyannis Longhorns        
        
		
        
        
            If Sutherland was riding high  fresh off their  53-14 takedown of Elba back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sutherland Sailors fell just short of the Hyannis Longhorns by a score of  30-27 on Tuesday. The Sailors lost against the Longhorns in their previous head to head  back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the  82-45 score last time.

 When it comes to explaining why Sutherland lost, don't look at  Mason Mortimer. Despite the final result, he  posted eight points in addition to eight  rebounds and five  steals. Mortimer is  crushing it when it comes to  steals: he's   grabbed at least two every time he's  taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was  Jackson Saner, who  had nine points.
Sutherland has  been struggling recently as they've  lost four of their last five matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record  this season. As for Hyannis, they now  have a winning record of 4-3.
 Sutherland will take on Sandhills/Thedford on Friday. As for Hyannis, they will square off against Morrill at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Hyannis will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
