Basketball Game Preview: Ridgefield Tigers vs. Southington Blue Knights

The Ridgefield Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Southington Blue Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ridgefield comes in on 15 and Southington on 19.

Ridgefield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They secured a 37-31 W over Norwich Free Academy.

Meanwhile, Southington blew past New Britain, posting a 70-43 victory. The Blue Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Ridgefield better focus on containing Isabella Leggett and Lily Cooper as the pair were huge in Southington's win. Leggett shot 47% from the field to rack up 24 points, while Cooper shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. Leggett's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Blanchard, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Ridgefield pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Southington, their victory bumped their record up to 24-1.

Ridgefield came up short against Southington in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 60-47. Can Ridgefield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
