Basketball Game Preview: Oakland Wildcats vs. Oakland Tech Bulldogs

Oakland is 1-9 against Oakland Tech since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Oakland Wildcats will host the Oakland Tech Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Oakland sitting on three straight victories and Oakland Tech on six.

It was a proper cat-fight when Oakland challenged Fremont on Wednesday. Oakland managed a 61-55 win over Fremont. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Tigers are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Da'Sean Armstrong, who went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Armstrong has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dominique Trotter, who scored 11 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Oakland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Oakland Tech was able to grind out a solid victory over McClymonds on Friday, taking the game 55-45.

Oakland Tech's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. As for Oakland, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

Oakland came up short against Oakland Tech when the teams last played back in January, falling 52-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Oakland Tech's Ardarius Grayson, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
