Baseball Recap: Vernon Takes a Loss

After soaring to 18 runs the game before, Vernon was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin County Seahawks. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Seahawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Vernon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Russel Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Franklin County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Franklin County beat Vernon by a score of 11-0 later that day.
