Preview: Ranney vs. Neptune Scarlet Fliers

Ranney has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Neptune Scarlet Fliers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Ranney suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-29 loss at the hands of St. John-Vianney. While losing is never fun, Ranney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while St. John-Vianney is ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Neptune came up short against Wall Township on Monday and fell 52-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Neptune in their matchups with Wall Township: they've now lost three in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Christa Ramos, who scored 16 points. She hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Bre Evans, who scored 15 points along with three steals.

Ranney has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Neptune, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Ranney beat Neptune 45-35 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Will Ranney repeat their success, or does Neptune have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
