Football Recap: Dougherty Trojans vs. Peach County Trojans
Dougherty played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Peach County, falling 52-20. While losing is never fun, Dougherty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Peach County is ranked 54th).

Despite the defeat, Dougherty saw an underclassman step up: freshman Micah Joyner rushed for 124 yards and one TD while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 124 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Joyner. Daishon Malone helped out on the ground, rushing for 114 yards.
Ashton Barton had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 247 yards and three scores while picking up 14.5 yards per carry for Peach County. Those 247 rushing yards gave Barton a new career-high. Zion Ellison was another key back, rushing for 61 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.
Dougherty's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Peach County, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Dougherty and Peach County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Trojans see the field they'll take on Cairo at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Peach County, their break will end when they face Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
