Football Recap: Esperanza Starts Season with Win Against Rosary Academy

Esperanza took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Rosary Academy Royals as they made off with a 32-12 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.

Emma Gribben went supernova, picking up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 57 yards.

Esperanza didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ellie Frazier, Maddie Reider, and Kaylie Gardner picked up one apiece.

Sophie Lickl and Hailey Huerta certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Lickl picked up 85 receiving yards and one TD, while Huerta rushed for 82 yards and one score.

Esperanza wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-7 win against Anaheim on the 12th. As for Rosary Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 20-0 loss against Villa Park on the 12th.
