Softball Game Preview: Willard Crimson Flashes vs. Port Clinton Redskins

The Willard Crimson Flashes are taking a road trip to take on the Port Clinton Redskins at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Willard has given up an average of 15.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Willard came up short against Plymouth on Friday, falling 13-2. The Crimson Flashes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Willard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Slone, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Port Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-2 to Woodmore.

Port Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Willard, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Willard's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Crimson Flashes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Port Clinton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Willard continue to outrun the ball?

Willard suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Port Clinton when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Crimson Flashes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
