Baseball Preview: Riverside Beavers vs. Aurora Greenmen
The Riverside Beavers are taking a road trip to take on the Aurora Greenmen at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Riverside easily dispatched Chardon on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Beavers fell just short of St. Edward by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Beavers have suffered since April 26, 2024.
Lelynd Chapman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mo Dolce, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Aurora never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Cuyahoga Falls last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Black Tigers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Greenmen as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Maddox Booth looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Aydan Carlson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Brennan Scope was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Aurora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuyahoga Falls only posted an OBP of .448.
Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Aurora, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3.
