Baseball Recap: LaBelle Triumphs

LaBelle got themselves on the board against Clewiston on Thursday, but Clewiston never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Clewiston Tigers, sneaking past 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys/Cowgirls have posted since April 1, 2024.

The result came thanks to Ty Murray's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, LaBelle's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson White, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

The victory made it two in a row for LaBelle and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clewiston, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LaBelle will face off against DeSoto County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clewiston, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Clewiston Tigers face off against Hardee Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Their pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so Hardee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
