Basketball Recap: Bridgeton Falls Short of Lenape in the Playoffs

Bridgeton and Lenape squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Bridgeton had to settle for second. They lost to the Lenape Indians on the road by a 60-46 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Indians are ranked 36th).

Bridgeton's loss came despite strong showings from Jameell Purnell and Jahzeer Thompson. Purnell dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards, while Thompson posted nine points and eight rebounds. Purnell has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Bridgeton and nudges their season record down to 10-17. As for Lenape, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-6.

Bridgeton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lenape has already played their next match (against Cherokee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
