Softball Game Preview: West End Patriots vs. Cherokee County Warriors

The West End Patriots will square off against the Cherokee County Warriors at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West End 3.2, Cherokee County 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

West End's tournament run continued when they took on Gaston on Friday. The Patriots came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Kennedi Nix was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Emma Franklin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Cherokee County had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Panthers.

Cherokee County's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for West End, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

West End came out on top in a nail-biter against Cherokee County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
