Basketball Recap: Montgomery's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Montgomery unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 71-62 to the Marin Catholic Wildcats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 500th).

Montgomery's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Marin Catholic, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-5.

Montgomery will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Analy at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Marin Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against San Marin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. San Marin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Marin Catholic likes a good challenge.
