Basketball Recap: Annika Baker Key Part of Team Effort in Cougars Win

It's playoff time, and Curlew had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 50-43 victory over the Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame Knights on Saturday.

Curlew's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Annika Baker, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. Baker is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Melissa Bineau, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 11 points.

Curlew was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame only posted one assist.

Despite the loss, Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame still got an impressive performance from Annelise Curran, who posted 35 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. That's the most blocks Curran has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Hartman, who scored no points and 13 boards.

Curlew's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Curlew has already played their next game, a 45-38 defeat against Inchelium on the 13th. Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
