Flag Football Game Preview: McClatchy Lions vs. West Park Panthers + How To Watch

The McClatchy Lions will square off against the West Park Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with McClatchy sitting on six straight victories and West Park on eight.

McClatchy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They snuck past Pleasant Grove with a 25-19 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Eagles are ranked 69th).

Daisy Throckmorton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 257 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of her passes, and also rushing for 60 yards on only six carries. That's the most passing yards she has posted since back in September. Laila Clark was Throckmorton's top target, picking up 57 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

McClatchy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of London Lee and Alicia Garcia.

Meanwhile, West Park's offense rose to the challenge against a Bulldogs defense that boasted an average of only 7.83 points allowed on Wednesday. The Panthers managed a 32-26 victory over Vacaville.

West Park's win bumped their record up to 23-2. As for McClatchy, their victory bumped their record up to 23-5.

McClatchy came up short against West Park in their previous matchup back in October, falling 31-24. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
