Palmyra wins going away against Conestoga

Recap: Palmyra Panthers vs. Conestoga Cougars

The Palmyra Panthers posted their biggest victory since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Conestoga 63-42. Given Palmyra's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Conestoga is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ayla Garrett, who scored 16 points along with four steals. That was a full 38.1% of Conestoga's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Davida Garrett was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.

Palmyra is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Conestoga, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmyra will take on Yutan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Yutan is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Conestoga, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Falls City at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th.
