Basketball Recap: Tavares Bulldogs vs. Vanguard Knights
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Tavares Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 34-23 to the Knights on Monday. Tavares has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vanguard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jerkiah Richardson, who scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Richardson has scored all season. Aniyah Hope was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Tavares has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Vanguard, their victory bumped their record up to 5-15.
Tavares does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Vanguard is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Leesburg will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
